The Performing Arts and Media Centre is a uniquenspecialist facility that unites Yarra Valley Grammar’s music, drama and media faculties to leverage synergies between disciplines, foster collaboration and create authentic learning experiences for students.

Located adjacent to and integrated with the existing 900-seat George Wood Performing Arts Centre, the Performing Arts and Media Centre provides a shared foyer, improved front-of-house facilities, and enhanced back-of-house capability and access.

Other key functions are organised over four levels and include a junior school library resource centre, orchestral music rehearsal space and audio visual gallery, as well as music theory and instrumental spaces, media spaces and digital editing suites. The black box performance space and sound stage production studio are both located below ground.

On a prominent but constrained site, the building form is elevated on expressive columns to create a junior school gateway and a public arrival experience for patrons for performing arts events.

Considered spaces and materials combine to create architecture that is expressive – in sight, sound and touch – of its complex program.
