Bubup Wilam Aboriginal Child and Family Centre Thomastown, Melbourne

An open, modern and vibrant environment designed specifically for the early development of indigenous children and for  use by the local community.

The Bubup Wilam Aboriginal Child and Family Centre was born out of a need for an improved facility for the Aboriginal community in the Thomastown area, in Melbourne’s north. The design features a strong sense of community identity and belonging, representative of a secure and nurturing environment.

With flexibility for children’s groupings as well as larger community gatherings, the design focuses on the integration of indoor and outdoor spaces and articulates strong connectivity between designated children’s and community spaces, as well as the surrounding spaces and landscape.
