A beachside residence set amongst a linear, undulating site in a sensitive coastal environment.
Seeking inspiration from the timber merchants that once used the site, the house employs various timber treatments throughout. Internal timber-clad walls continue beyond glazing lines to define external spaces, blurring the edges between inside and out. Robust, expressive detailing presents all interior joinery as a series of layered, textural compositions; solid forms appear as a series of ‘installed’ elements within the interior spaces while planes are tipped and folded from vertical to horizontal to challenge wall and ceiling conventions.
