Hayball Student Housing for Monash University

08 December 2014

Authored by Hayball

Hayball, in association with RMA Architects, is designing two of four new student accommodation buildings at Monash University’s Clayton campus.

The location of key social infrastructure is at the heart of the Hayball/RMA scheme for 500 student studios across the two buildings.

“College living can be a fantastically social experience, but for new students this relies on developing social networks,” said Hayball director David Tweedie.

The open vertical circulation and transparency of communal lounges, dining and games rooms distinguish these social spaces, which are grouped together on each level where the two wings of each building meet. Circulation is designed to bring residents past these spaces of increased activity, fostering their connections.

Construction commenced in July, and will be finished next December, in time for the 2016 academic year.
